During the Second Wolrd War (Great Patriotic War in the ex-USSR) in 1944 a 72 year old Kazakhi berkutchi Suleiman Takimov - falconer from "Oktober" kolkhoz-artel  in Jambul District of Alma-Ata Region of Kazakhstan was delivered to Moscow together with his Golden Eagle Karatyget (in translation from Kazakhi into English - "Black Tiger") for participation in shooting movie "Law of Great Love" about love among animals. Remarkable fact that during the war such a neutral (non-propagandistic) movie about animals was done. Above - newspaper clip from "Kazakhstanskaya Pravda" of 2 February 1945 that such a movie will be shown in cinemas of the ex-USSR during February 1945. The Black Tiger was 7 years old and he was taiken by Suleiman by chick from the nest. After completion of work on movie Suleiman Takimov and his Black Tiger succesfully were returned by plain back.

With many thanks to Bakhyt Karnakbayev.

About Us

The FHT aims to establish a portal for the world's falconers and other interested parties to access aspects of the sport's rich heritage by linking existing physical archives, including international private and public collections, through the medium of an electronic archive. This archive features falconry furniture, works of art, books, correspondence from leading falconers and film and photographic material for the education and interest of falconer and scholar alike.
