An elegant horseman, falcon in hand, stands out against a background of blue enamel sprinkled
with discs and rosettes. The subject of this medallion, hunting falcon, is related to the themes of
secular decoration developed in the Work of Limoges in the years 1180-1190, evoking the
aristocratic and chivalrous world. The technique, also appeared around 1180-1190, combines
enamelled backgrounds and figures in reserve (unglazed), with engraved and chiselled details and
small applique heads.
