A Berkuts jesses are known as "Ayak bau" and consist of strong anklets with woven straps attached. At the ends of these are often a small woven hole or small metal rings to attach them to the leash. The arm is protected with a long sleeved mitten rather than a fingered glove. This is because of severe cold in winter, the "Bijalia" as it is known is often lined with warm padding or fur.
